The answer to this question will always be Middle Earth. We toured New Zealand in 2015 and visited a number of sites from the Lord of the Rings films including the Hobbiton set.
We were living in Korea at the time, so it wasn’t a terribly long flight. From the East Coast of U.S., it’s usually about 24 to 30 hours with connections. From Seoul, it was only about 12 hours. Back then, that was a short flight for me.
We also spent time in Auckland and walked across the narrowest tip of the island. The Coast to Coast Walkway is 16 kilometers from coast to coast and touches the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea.

Wow what a vacation!
It really was a great week. Christmas in New Zealand is fantastic because it’s summer there.
