Award-winning writer and editor
In our big-data world, metrics matter. Making a quantitative connection between quality marketing collateral and product sales is a challenge.
Awards answer that challenge.
I started winning awards in graduate school. I earned the Lander Award for the Graduate Study of History from Clemson University for my master’s thesis.
While I was editing team lead, The Integrity Group had its biggest year at the STC Houston awards—winning more than 20 individual awards.
Audits provide another answer.
As Creative Services Manager, I dreamed of setting up a comprehensive quality audit system. I want to make that dream a reality for my next employer.
Expat and volunteer
In 2012, I left the U.S. and a successful career to follow my husband to India.
The image of trailing spouses drinking gin and tonics and spending their husbands’ money is a myth.
The reality is more complex. Like most trailing spouses living in Asia and the Middle East, I volunteered.
In Mumbai, I used my skills to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children. As a Mumbai Connexions member, I conducted research and interviewed stakeholders to report on our organization’s charitable contributions. My research took me into Mumbai’s poorest neighborhoods, where I found something unexpected: hope and my own voice as a writer.
As a columnist and blogger, I wrote about Indian economic issues and created an engaging, compelling story that used a cup of Starbucks coffee to explain foreign direct investment in India.
While in Dubai, I edited and marketed the bestselling novel Child/God. This experience led me to write my own book about India.
Branding expert and storyteller
Living in India and Korea taught me more about branding than I ever learned as an editor. Creating a global brand is essential but fraught with issues around language and culture.
Once upon a time, men like Leo Burnett created such brands. Big brands. Kellogg’s. StarKist. United.
Today, everyone has a brand. Apple. BHGE. Kim Kardashian. My Chihuahua Peanut.
Fortune 500 companies in the technology, energy, and engineering and construction sectors have trusted me to enforce and create their brand standards. I have worked as an editor on a rebranding team that turned 1250 data sheets in a single month. I have managed a team that created brands for companies that didn’t have them.
As an editor, I had one mantra: write for your audience.
As a brand storyteller, I add one more: tell the best story in the simplest language.
Let me help you tell your brand story.
